Old machine return programme
As from 2005 the lawmakers will extend the responsibility of the manufacturer for its products and their effects on the environment.
This applies to electric and electronic equipment, which must be taken back and recycled free of charge after its useful life. We are already working hard on preparations to comply with the new legislation and guarantee trouble-free product returns as from 2005.

Ban on substances
In connection with the return of old machines, several harmful substances, such as lead and cadmium will be banned in electric and electronic equipment. We already do without harmful substances wherever possible. The yellow parts of Kärcher machines have not contained cadmium for many years.

ISO 14001 certification
The Kärcher service centre in Gissigheim was certified in accordance with the international ISO 14001 standard in May 2003. In December, the CIP plant in Quistello, Italy, also received international certification. It is planned to have all other plants in Italy, Brazil and the U.S. certified by the end of 2005.

Further roofs to be grassed in Winnenden
Another 1000 square metres of roof to be grassed in Winnenden.
This type of roof, apart from its ecological and optical benefits, has positive side-effects on the well-being of staff.
