FAQ – Steam Cleaners
Tank cap cannot be opened?
Cause:
The boiler is still under pressure.
Remedy:
The pressure must be released:
First switch off the heater, then switch on steam feed (on max), operate the switch on the handle until the cap can be opened.
If the tank cap still cannot be opened,
click here for your nearest Authorised Kärcher Service Agent
for assistance.
Too much water instead of steam?
Cause:
Water tank overfilled.
Unit has not yet reached full temperature.
Controller is not set to steam mode.
Remedy:
Water tank must not be more than 3/4 full.
Wait until unit has reached operating temperature.
Set the controller to steam mode.
No steam?
Cause:
Heater is not switched on.
Steam feed not switched on.
Scale build-up in unit.
Remedy:
Switch on the heater.
Switch on steam feed.
Descale unit with RM 511
Steam cleaner requires too long to heat up?
Cause:
Scale build-up in unit.
Remedy:
Descale unit with RM 511.
Steam cleaner does not heat at all?
Cause:
Power cord not plugged in properly or mains fuse has tripped.
Water tank is empty.
Remedy:
Check power cord and mains fuse.
Fill water tank (max. 3/4).
Steam cleaner lets off steam?
Cause:
Steam flows through relief valve, all downstream systems fail.
Remedy:
This problem can only be remedied by customer service, please
